Miss you all
Welcome to my blog;
I would love to tell every one that It is my pleasure to share with you my experience as I travel for the first time in the USA.
I wl like to highlight that before I prepared myself to set off, I had come from Kampala, Ugamda where I had spent 10 days with other 40 young rwandans where we had been participating in the Afro Arab tyouth festival; I will talk about this festival; it was the most disorganised but important festival I have ever seen; we were discussing critical issues like democracy, good governance, human rights, rule of law and all those things that you would imagine, it was officially opened by HE the president of Uganda;Yoweri Kaguta Museveni; one the most once loved president in Africa; I personally love and admire him second to Rwigema Fred (the rwandan hero), he urged the youth to participate and come up with good reccomendations; young people worked hard through the 10 days and they really came up with good reccomedations of which was supposed to be adressed to the hosting president and the visiting president who HE Mohamada Kaddafi of Lybia; what started as a good force for young people was distructed by the speech fo this conservative president who urged young people to learn by Mugabe Robert who was the Zimbabwean president and who might win the elctions; anyways this for zimbabweans to decide; He futher mentioned something that there is no liberator who needs mandate and talked about constitution as just papers you sign and can or can not use.it was very frustrating and I think most young people learned a lesson from there; from disorganised festival to engaging us in supporting dictatrial regimes as we dont have anything to do with liberator so liberators enjoy your furits. I thank God there are those liberators who have shown and demonstrated that actually liberators can use constitution and thats why to most of you who ask me why I love my president; thats why?
We got an opportunity to visit and chat with our Ambassador and share our experiences with him about our meeting and what got from hiw was that Young people should help be change makers starting by bringing on board our neighbours to share the experiences of Genocide with them; it was a good statement becuase young people should be a primary focus to change any sociuety.
Frustrated as I was, the 27th of March 2008 I was in the streets of Kigali trying to look for the beautiful items of kigali that I would bring to my friends. I had appointments at work and meeting different people to be able to leave everyone informed of my where abouts.
The 28th was my departure day and I had packed, set and prepared for my journey; the most hurty thing of this was to leave my children behind with out their father who was in another country close to where I am now. I was scared; called almost every doctor I knew, called friends and told them about looking after my children; It was funny because I left every one I know to take care of my children; I know when I left three of my friends coincidently met at my house when every body had come to see my children. Rwandan are so human; I love you all
It was late at mid day when I had to share my lunch with 2 close friends of mine at one of the beautiful hotels in Kigali and very close to my neighbourhood; Hotel Chez lando; after one hour of sharing and discussing they drove me home to pick my laggage and take me to the airport. It was so sad to leave my children behind; the eyes of my little child Gisa was surplisingly looking at me and I felt like leaving the journey; he is so young to mention anything but in his eyes I saw a word that was asking me where I was going but I had to go?
I closed my eyes and my two young sisters had to say a prayer and through out the prayers I was crying; I didnt want any one to escort me at the airport apart from my brother Frank who unfortunately I didnt know where he had gone so I went off the house as Malaika and Ganza scream; Mom bye and kissing me.
I arrived at the airport one hour in time and had to say tuzasubira to my friends and stayed for 5 minutes discussing with this special friend to me Kabonero; Kabonero is one my good friends in Kigali; he is the managing Director of Rwanda Independent Media Group which publishes the papers that you will ever hear fighting with the governement all the time; he is the guy who finds life in courts and controversial style of living; he loves journalism and love critical issues but we have one difference that doesnt devide us though; his belief in change.
Checking in I met alot my school mates working now as big people in the office of different travel agencies; one of them amazingly asked me; where are you going? I answered in the United States of America and he said for how long? I said for 6 weeks and the funny question he asked was; will you really come back to Rwanda and I was would you not come back if you go? he said I aaaaaaaaah and I said for me I will come back. so I approached the migration office and checked in my passport as I approached the waiting room for those who know the name please do tell me how they call that place. Here I meet one of my professors at college who was going to belgium.
My flight took 2 hours to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, I spent 2o minutes and boarded another plane that was supposed to drive me to Dallas International Airport and here watch out for more posts about my journey when I arrive.
Love you all.
